Robert Kaiser

Dr. Kaiser is president and Founder of Entropic Systems, Inc. (ESI). The Company was created to pursue the development of a novel method of removing small (i.e. micron sized) contaminant particles from solid surfaces.

Dr. Kaiser was also President and Founder of ARGOS Associates, Inc., which was created in 1977. In that capacity, he performed numerous technical assessment, planning and market analyses for various clients in the public and private sectors. Dr. Kaiser was previously employed by AVCO Systems Division in Lowell, MA, and by the M.W. Kellogg Company in Piscataway, NJ. Dr. Kaiser also served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, stationed at the Quartermaster Research and Development Command, Natick, MA.

Dr. Kaiser obtained his education at MIT from where he received his SB, MS and ScD degrees in Chemical Engineering. He also held an appointment as Visiting Scientist in MIT's Center for Materials Processing in 1982.

Since graduate school, Dr. Kaiser has been interested in interfacial phenomena, especially the behavior of very small particles. His research has included investigations of fine particle agglomeration and pelletization, as well as the dispersion of fine particles to form stable colloidal suspensions. While at AVCO, Dr. Kaiser was best known for his innovations of these "magnetic liquids". He received two NASA invention awards, one of which was for his development of stable colloidal dispersions in perfluorinated liquids.

Dr. Kaiser is the author/co-author of numerous technical publications and reports on particulate phenomena and magnetic liquids. He is the recipient of sixteen issued U.S. patents.

Dr. Kaiser is a Registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He was elected to Sigma Xi, Tau Beta Pi, and Phi Lambda Upsilon. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, and the Institute of Environmental Sciences.

Further biographic data can be found in "Who's Who in the East", "Who's Who in Technology", and "American Men of Science".
